ARTxSCIENCE: Where Art and Stem Cell Research Meet

How can science and beauty be united? With ARTxSCIENCE, the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Stem Cell Medicine, reNEW, visits Medical Museion, offering an insight into the world of stem cell research. The exhibition conveys not only the aesthetic dimensions of research but also its potential to revolutionize the treatment of complex and previously incurable diseases.

Behind reNEW and ARTxSCIENCE is an international collaboration between the University of Copenhagen, Murdoch Children’s Research Institute in Melbourne, Australia and Leiden University Medical Center in the Netherlands. Each work in the exhibition is an image from reNEW’s research, which ranges from Parkinson’s and heart disease to lung disorders. Each work of art is accompanied by a story that describes which disease the research is addressing and how it can make a difference in the future.

As part of reNEW’s efforts to raise awareness of stem cell research, the ARTxSCIENCE competition is held annually. Here, both the public and an international jury select the best works from among the 12 finalists. The result is this exhibition, which is now touring Denmark and the rest of the world.
