‘The World is in You’ came in second place
Medical Museion’s recognition was for the exhibition project ‘The World is in You’ from 2021, which stands out especially for its interdisciplinary approach and the blend of history, art, and science. Medical Museion also won the award in 2019 for the project ‘Mind the Gut’ and is the first university museum to be nominated twice in the history of the award.
Often likened to the Oscars of university museums, this award celebrates excellence, creativity, and, most importantly, the profound impact of university museums and collections on their host universities, their communities, and contemporary society. Established in 2016, the UMAC Award seeks to distinguish recent outstanding contributions to all areas of museum and collections theory and practice, especially those with interdisciplinary approaches and wide-ranging applications.
This recognition of our work by an international community of peers is extremely encouraging and helps in our ongoing efforts to expand and experiment with our role as university museum. Our heartfelt thanks go out to our colleagues at the University of Copenhagen, staff, partners, artists, and our visitors who all have contributed to making the exhibition project ‘The World is Inside You’ possible.
