Daniel On December 22nd 2004 Thomas published the first post on our blog, Biomedine in Display. I guess we have some celebrating to do! I wasn’t along for very beginning, but that doesn’t mean I can’t celebrate too. So here’s a little peek into what’s been going on in our part of the blogosphere in the past 10 years.
- Biomedicine on Display was started in 2004 as one of the first museum research blogs in the world.
- In 2008 we created a second blog, Museionblog, mainly in Danish and for content other than research
- The two blogs and our website were merged into the site you’re looking at right now in 2011
- Altogether we’ve authored 2,668 posts that have received more than 2,400 comments
- The most productive author (by far) is Thomas, with more than 1,600 posts
- The most viewed post is entitled BODIES in Copenhagen (more than 11,000 unique visits)
- Combined the blogs have had more than 1.1 million pageviews by 478,000 unique visitors
On the slightly more negative side our productivity in terms of blog posts hasn’t been impressive lately. We used to have to limit posting so only 2 posts were published everyday. However, now it’s been more than a year since we had more than one post in one day. Here are the actual numbers:
Why is this the case? Have we lost our passion for sharing? Or have other media taken over? For me personally, the latter is definitely part of the explanation. I’m constantly writing and sharing stuff on Facebook and Twitter. And perhaps that’s the case for most of us. But what does that mean for the future of our blog? Discuss SVP 🙂
